Ensim Unify Hosted Exchange 2007 version 4.0.0 Update 9 Release Notes
Introduction:
The release notes provide information about Ensim Unify Hosted Exchange 2007 version 4.0.0 rollup Update 9 resolved issues, prerequisites, and installation instructions.
Resolved Issues
Issue:
The Exch2007HSManager.exe used to take long time to collect mailbox and Public folder usage collection and consume 100% CPU usage if there are large number of users and public folders in the system.(60498)
Resolution: Now, this is optimized.
Issue: Earlier, the Usage collection used to fail and display incorrect data in case the Root Organizational Unit is different than "Hosting".(61563)
Resolution: Now this issue is resolved.
Issue: Earlier, customer could not change the OAB store limit to any value greater than 1000. (61322)
Resolution: Now it can be changed by creating a registry key. Note that creating this registry key is optional. The default value for OAB store limit will be 1000. This registry key needs to be created on all PE Servers.

Issue: Earlier, we could not add user if external contact exists in other organization with same email address.(61109)
Resolution: Now this issue is resolved. Refer Attachment " Enabling multiple external contacts with the same forwarder email address.htm" for more details.
Issue: Earlier, Mailbox Rights Delegation used to throw an error message when a delegate is added whose name contains a single quote. (61773)
Resolution: Now this issue is resolved.
New features
This update includes the following new features. The numbers in parentheses indicate the Ensim problem report (PR) number.

  1. Microsoft has made changes in the SPLA 2007 beginning October 2008. (61190)
    The new SPLA 2007 is now supported in Unify Exchange 2007 4.0.0 Service Manager.
    Changes after applying the Update:-
  2. Earlier, we could not set Public Folder and Distribution List as forwarding email address.(61093) Now this is possible.
  3. Support for EMT 1.5.0 Update 1.

Prerequisites
Before installing this rollup update, ensure that your Ensim Unify system has the following:

Time requirements and customer impact
It takes less than 20 minutes to apply the rollup update. During this time, new customers cannot be provisioned, and all Ensim Unify control panels are unavailable. However, existing customers can continue to use services without interruption.
Installing the rollup update
This section explains how to install the rollup update.
Pre-installation instructions
Before installing the rollup update, you need to disable PE server applications and backup the databases. This section describes the pre-installation instructions.
Ensure that all the requirements mentioned in the prerequisites section are satisfied unless they are marked as optional.
Disable the Provisioning Engine and Queue Manager services by performing the following steps on any one of the PE servers:
Log in to the PE server as domain administrator.
Unzip the rollup update zip file to a temporary directory.
Double-click the PreInstall.bat file.
You can view the log file StartStopServices.log located in the %SystemDrive% to verify that there are no errors reported.
Take backup of Ensim_wvh_Configuration and Ensim_Exchange2007 Database.
The pre-installation procedure is complete.
Installation instructions
After performing the steps in the pre-installation section, complete the following steps to install the rollup update.
On Provisioning Engine (PE) servers
Perform the following steps on each PE server:

  1. Log in to the PE server as domain administrator.
  2. Unzip the rollup update zip file to a temporary directory.
  3. Browse to the temporary directory, where you have unzipped the rollup update files.
  4. Double-click the Autorun_PE.bat file.
  5. Click OK to complete the installation.
    A log file named Install.log is created in the same directory. Open this log file and verify that there are no errors reported. If there are any errors reported for a update packaged in the rollup update, open and check the Install.log and RegisterHotfix.log files located in the Data\Hotfix<number>\PE directory for detailed information about the errors. 
    Important: If the rollup update installation fails on a server, you need to manually uninstall the rollup update from all other servers on which you have successfully installed it.
    The rollup update installation on the PE server is complete.

On Control Panel (CP) servers
Perform the following steps on each CP server:

  1. Log in to the CP server as domain administrator.
  2. Unzip the rollup update zip file to a temporary directory.
  3. Browse to the temporary directory, where you have unzipped the rollup update files.
  4. Double-click the Autorun_CP.bat file.
  5. Click OK to complete the installation.
    A log file named Install.log is created in the same directory. Open this log file and verify that there are no errors reported. If there are any errors reported for a update packaged in the rollup update, open and check the Install.log and RegisterHotfix.log files located in the Data\Hotfix<number>\CP directory for detailed information about the errors.
    Important: If the rollup update installation fails on a server, you need to manually uninstall the rollup update from all other servers on which you have successfully installed it.

On Hosting servers

Post-installation instructions
After installing the rollup update as described in the preceding section, perform the following steps to complete the rollup update installation:

To complete the update 9 installation, you need to perform the following instructions manually.

  1. On each Exchange 2007 server where Ensim Remote Service is installed, do the following steps: (Mandatory)
    Stop the Scheduled Task if it is running, which executes Exch2007HSManager.exe. This executable present at location where Ensim Remote Service is installed, generally in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Ensim\Ensim Unify\EnsimRemoteService\bin
    Copy the Exch2007HSManager.exe from above mentioned location to some backup folder.
    Copy the Exch2007HSManager.exe from location \Data\Hotfix9\HS\Exchange2007 and paste the file in folder where Ensim Remote Service is installed.
    Start Scheduled Task.
  2. After applying this update, the Standard & Enterprise Mailbox type names will be changed to "Standard_Custom1" & "Enterprise_Custom1". However, the description of these mailbox types is not changed. You should change the description of these mailbox types to appropriate as the same is shown while provisioning an organization.
    This is applicable only if SPLA 2007 Licensing Scheme is applied before applying this update.
    Also make sure that you have completed all the Post installation steps for the previous updates.
    WS API Changes and Backward Compatibility
  3. A new feature Outlook_Entourage has been added to the Mailbox Types in the SPLA 2007-[Updated: October 2008] update. A new Boolean data type Outlook_Entourage is now added to the MailboxType class. All the Mailbox types related APIs which uses the MailboxType class now contains this additional field.

Customizing the language pack
If you have applied any language packs on your Unify setup, you must translate the new strings for each installed language. If the strings are not translated, then the MSGIDs are displayed in the control panel instead of the actual strings. For customizing the language pack, translate the newly added strings and add them to the user.EXCH2K7.strings.po file. For information and instructions about customizing the language pack, refer to the customization section in Ensim Unify 4.0.0 Language Pack Installation Guide.
The newly added strings have the following MSGIDs and are located in the EXCH2K7.strings.po file located on each CP Server in the %ProgramFiles%\Ensim\Ensim Unify\cp\resources\en-US folder.

The post-installation procedure for update 9 is complete.

Removing the rollup update
You can remove (or roll back) the installed rollup update by performing the following steps:
Before uninstalling Update 9, follow the mandatory instructions mentioned in Update 7 release notes under section Known Limitations (point c) 
Before you begin, perform step 2 mentioned in the Pre-installation instructions section to disable PE and CP server applications.
Important: If the PE and CP software is installed on the same server, perform the CP-related instructions for removing the rollup update before performing the PE-related instructions.
On Provisioning Engine (PE) servers
Perform the following steps on each PE server.

  1. Log in to the PE server as domain administrator.
  2. Open a command window and change to the temporary directory, where you have unzipped the rollup update files.
  3. Run the following command:
    cscript.exe Scripts\RollupScript.vbs RollupConfigPE.xml -u
    During the uninstallation, if an error occurs, it is displayed in a popup window. Click OK in the popup window to resume the process.
  4. Click OK to complete the uninstallation.
    A log file named Uninstall.log is created in the same directory. Open this log file and verify that there are no errors reported. If there are any errors reported for a update packaged in the rollup update, open and check the Uninstall.log and RegisterHotfix.log files located in the Data\Hotfix<number>\PE directory for detailed information about the errors.
    The rollup update uninstallation on the PE server is complete.

Perform the following steps on each CP server.

  1. Log in to the CP server as domain administrator.

  5. The rollup update uninstallation on the CP server is complete.
    On SQL server " Perform restore operation for
    Ensim_wvh_Configuration and Ensim_Exchange2007 database

On Hosting servers
Restore the previous Exch2007HSManager.exe on all Exchange 2007 servers, which you backed-up while following Post-Installation Instructions in the Release Notes document of Update9, on all Exchange 2007 servers. These files are usually located where Ensim Remote Service is installed, generally in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Ensim\Ensim Unify\EnsimRemoteService\bin
After uninstalling the rollup update from all the servers, perform the step 2 mentioned in the Post-installation instructions section to complete the rollup update un-installation.
The rollup update rollback is complete.
Known Issues
The web service method SaveUserSyncPreference saves preference even if OTA is disabled for the organization.(62136)
